The following represents some of the major areas I work with using solution focused hypnotherapy.
The list is not exhaustive, so please give me a call or email me if you need further information. Please note, you need to be willing to work with me and some changes in lifestyle may be discussed. You will need to get on board with the process – unfortunately no hypnotherapist owns a magic wand! However, I promise to work with you to make the positive changes that you want so you can enjoy your life.
Anxiety and Stress Related Conditions
We live in a society where great demands and responsibilities are placed on us. Today, about one in seven people are suffering from stress or anxiety at any one time in the UK. And while some people manage, more and more people are showing signs of over-anxiety, which leads to stress, which can make a significant impact on the quality of life and wellbeing. You may be one of those people but are now ready to explore ways of freeing yourself from anxiety and living a fulfilled and happy life.
Anxiety can manifest itself in many ways: panic attacks, migraines, nervousness, skin complaints, stammering, blushing, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or overly worrying about something that may never happen. It can build up over a long period of time without us even realising it. Alternatively it can come on suddenly as a result of something like a change of circumstances, an event or illness.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
IBS affects up to 1 in 5 people in the UK over the course of their lifetime. IBS can be debilitating, preventing you from achieving simple tasks and causing you serious discomfort.
Hypnotherapy can help you break the cycle of pain and anxiety. Research by Professor Whorwell, a gastroenterologist at Wymthenshawe Hospital shows that hypnotherapy can make a significant contribution to the treatment of IBS. His research shows that over 60% of IBS sufferers who undertake hypnotherapy see long term improvement, or complete disappearance of symptoms often with no recurrence.
Insomnia and Sleep Patterns
Sleep disturbance can be brought on by a number of reasons such as anxiety, depression or illness. This can then cause issues during the day such as tiredness, lack of concentration and ultimately health problems.
Hypnotherapy can enable a gentle change that encourages relaxation just before sleep. If insomnia is caused by stress, hypnotherapy can help reduce the stress and the negative sleeping patterns.
Confidence and self esteem
Lack of confidence or low self-esteem is very common. It maybe something you have always felt or it is something that has crept up on you more recently, sometimes as a result of changing circumstances. Solution focused hypnotherapy will help you discover your confidence and self-esteem by gently finding the positive solutions to live life in the way that you have always wanted.
Fears and phobias
Heights, flying, enclosed spaces, noise, needles, public speaking, social situations – the list is endless. Most people have a fear or phobia of some sort, but when our anxiety levels rise so do our responses to our fears. So when we are more relaxed then our fears are reduced. Habits exist on the same subconscious level as phobias and hypnosis helps create new habits or patterns of behaviour. Hypnotherapy communicates with the subconscious filtering through how you want to be rather than how you are.
Overcoming Addictions (including smoking) and Obsessions (OCD)
This includes addictions such as smoking, alcohol, food, nail biting, recreational drug use, gambling, sexual performance and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). The reason why hypnotherapy works so rapidly with bad habits and behaviours is because it works directly with your subconscious, bypassing the critical mind and getting to the root of the issue so that changes can be made that support your goals quickly and efficiently.
Conception, pregnancy and childbirth
Hypnotherapy is a safe and powerful way to increase the possibility of a successful pregnancy, used either as an individual therapy or in conjunction with other complementary therapies. If there is no physical cause of infertility a psychological element may be present. Hypnotherapy targets the underlying psychological causes and allows the mind/ body balance to return to normal. It provides relaxation to help you through pregnancy and prepare you for childbirth so that you feel calm and in control.
Motivation and Performance Enhancement
Motivation is what causes you to take action to achieve your goals. Hypnotherapy can help to motivate you by helping you to identify your underlying reasons for wanting to achieve your goal. Then we help you take small steps towards achieving your overall aim. The small steps generate a feeling of achievement, which motivate you to take the next step. This empowers you and creates enthusiasm to reach your goal. This is effective for sports, business or studying.
Pain has been seen to reduce using the gentle power of solution focused hypnotherapy. Hypnosis helps to manage the pain by changing the way you perceive the pain messages to your brain and reduce the intensity of the pain you may be feeling.
If you want to change your weight or change your pattern of eating (or drinking) hypnotherapy can help. For this to work we will need to work together and your full participation will be required. Quite often it is not the food that is the problem – it is boredom, stress, a need for a reward. Solution focused hypnotherapy helps promote change in the brain by changing patterns of behaviour.
We can lead such busy and stressful lives often to the detriment to our body and mind. Our own well-being can often be at the bottom of the list. Hypnotherapy is one of the easiest ways to ’empty our stress bucket’ and reach a deep level of relaxation. Relaxation is an important and valuable part of a healthy and well balanced life style.
